Surf Kayak Training from Shoreline Outdoor Pursuits Simon Hammond Level 5 Surf Coach & 2003 World Surf Kayak Champion Courses tailor made around your needs and aim to improve your skills and knowledge of the sport using some of the best surf beaches in the UK. Different needs are easily catered for, ie Introduction to Surf, BCU 4 & 5 star surf award, Improving performance. Plenty of dates are available both weekdays and weekends. Novices up to competition level paddlers will benefit from individualised coaching. A range of specialised Surf kayaks available for your use - please request. Four and Five Star Courses If you intend to use the course for Four or Five star training it will be most productive for you if you've first read through the relevant syllabus and come prepared to have a go. Some back ground information gathering can also be useful. If you have arranged for a four star assessment then you must come prepared for every aspect of the test, including well practised rescue techniques, all listed items of equipment, paper work (log book entries) and theory components. Your skills will be assessed as will be your judgement. Any kayak or ski can be used but remember some will perform better in the surf than others. All Courses - Information One day courses run from 9 am to approximately 4.00 pm and contain two dry theory sessions and two wet practical sessions. The aim of all courses is to improve every paddlers surf understanding and surfing skills. To gain the most from the two practical sessions a long lunch break is included which gives paddlers adequate time to rest and also includes time to cover other aspects of the sport. Single day courses cost £79 per person if booking individually, £69 per person if booking as a group of 4 or £59 per person if booking as a group of 6. I'll meet you at 9 am at Crooklets Beach Car Park, in Bude. To find this drive through Bude's one way system going to the top of the long one way hill. Pass the post office and take the second left passing in front of Somerfield supermarket. Follow the road to the bottom of the hill, cross a little bridge by the Crooklets Inn and park in the car park next to the Surf Life Saving Club. You'll need your own transport in case we have to change location and a packed lunch for courses out of season, during the season there are plenty of Beach Cafe's where its nice to have lunch. To make a booking simply give me a call or send me an email to check that your chosen dates are still available. Your payment in full will confirm these arrangements. If the course then has to be cancelled due to adverse weather and / or surf conditions your payment will be returned in full.
