Our events

Bude Surf Life Saving Club Ski Race
The inaugural Bude Surf Life Saving Club ski race in 2023 features a 10-mile round trip from Crooklets Beach to Lower Sharpnose Point. The mass-start event includes categories for single ski (men/women) and double ski, with a canal-based alternative if sea conditions are unsuitable.

Bude SLSC 2km Swim
The Bude Coastal Swim is a challenging 2km open sea swim from Northcott Mouth to Bude, supported by Bude Surf Life Saving Club. Participants must be at least 16 years old, with under-18s accompanied by an adult swimmer. The event includes safety coverage, changing facilities, refreshments, and trophy ceremony at the club house.

Cornish Nutcracker Endurance Cycle Hillclimb
The hill climb cycling event between Bude and Boscastle challenges riders with steep coastal roads reaching 30% gradients. The route follows the coastal road through Widemouth Bay, Millook, and Crackington Haven. Cyclists ride continuously, stopping only for timekeepers, with the winner determined by fastest combined climbing times.

Black Rock Surf Kayak Festival
Every April since 2002, the Black Rock Surf Kayak Festival features two days of competition. Saturday hosts the handicapped classic where paddlers compete based on skill level, while Sunday focuses on specialised categories including Long Boat, Short Boat, and Waveski surfing.

Bude Junior Triathlon
Every June since 2009, the Shoreline Junior Triathlon takes place at Summerleaze Downs, Bude. This off-road event features a seawater pool swim (1-3 lengths based on age), a 2-mile bike course, and a 1-mile run. Open to students from year 4 through year 9, the triathlon aims to introduce young athletes to the sport.

Shoreline Triathlon
Every summer since 1991, the Shoreline Triathlon runs from Summerleaze Beach in Bude. The event attracts both beginners and national team athletes. The race features a sheltered open water swim in Summerleaze bay, a fast and hilly bike route along the coast, and a run through town and along the canal towpath. Athletes complete the course in 1-2 hours.
