Meet the team
Shoreline was established back in 1979 by Nicholas and Jeannie Cole. Their eldest daughter Nicola married Simon Hammond and they took over the business in 1991 and have been running it ever since. David Oxnard joined the business in 1998 as the Operations Manager and very much runs the business on a day-to-day basis. Joel Perkin and Ryan Curtis, both local boys started working for Shoreline in 2011 after completing a Level 3 BTEC in Adventurous Activities at the local school.
Simon is the most enthusiastic outdoor pursuits coach you will ever meet and together with his wife Nicola owns Shoreline Extreme Sports. Simon is a highly qualified and experienced Outdoor Pursuits professional with Paddle UK coaching and coach educating qualifications in Inland Kayak, Sea and Surf Kayaking. He is a keen rock climber and mountaineer holding the Mountain Instructor Award and as a Surf Life Saver is a Surf Life Saving Surf Lifeguard Trainer, first aid provider and qualified teacher.
He became the World Surf Kayaking Champion in 2003 and a year later wrote the book Surf Kayaking: The Essential Guide. He coaches all forms of Paddlesport with a reputation as one of the worlds leading Surf Kayak coaches. Rock Climbing and Mountaineering are his other passion and he worked hard to gain his MIA in 2012. He loves adventure and is keen to drag his students, instructors, wife and children into challenging situations!
Nicola together with her husband Simon is the owner of Shoreline Extreme Sports. Nicola grew up with the business as her parents, Nick and Jeannie, established Shoreline back in 1979 when she was a young girl at school. Nicola is a Kayak coach, Surf Lifeguard and Archery instructor and has grown up working in the outdoor business.
Nicola is an active member of the local Surf Life Saving Club and is a very competent competition paddler winning several National Ski Paddling titles over the years. Within the business, it's often Nicola who keeps things real and keeps Simon's madder ideas in check.
If she's not working then you'll often find Nicola out walking the family dog, a fun loving cockapoo by the name of Pepper.
Keiran s Simon and Nicola's eldest son and has been working for the family firm since 2016. He is part of the next generation of the Hammond's entering the family business. Keiran is a skilled Surfer, Kayaker and Snowboarder and when he's not taking part in those sports, he can be found skating.
Keiran has worked on the local beaches as a Surf Lifeguard and is also a talented Photographer and Videographer providing many of the images on this website as well as photos and films for businesses around the world. Keiran's website.
Zerran is Simon and Nicola's youngest son. He's grown up with outdoor pursuits and is a very capable kayaker and surfer. Zerran has a degree in Sport Psychology and Coaching from Bournemouth University. As well as leading several of Shoreline's activities Zerran is a keen Rugby player. Zerran is a very likeable character and even managed to talk his mum around after returning from a trip to New Zealand complete with moustache and mullet!
Joel has worked for Shoreline since leaving school and has recently moved on to become a Policeman! He's not left us completely and when time allows we drag him back to help with our full range of sports.
Joel is a hugely experienced outdoor professional. He's an old-fashioned outdoor enthusiast, and when he's not teaching people how to climb, paddle or surf, you'll find him climbing, paddling or surfing! Joel is a Paddlesport Coach, Rock Climbing Instructor, Surf Lifeguard trainer and a First Aid provider.
Above all else Joel is a great character and if you are lucky enough to meet him you'll be left with find memories.
Anna is developing her outdoor and coaching skills and is the youngest member of our team. She is 100% into outdoor pursuits with a particular love of Rock Climbing and Surf Kayaking.
She is probably the hardest working of all the team. We think she's great and real asset to the Team. She's off at college at the moment but we hope she'll be back with us for the summer season.
