Six separate days of surf kayaking to help build and develop your skills. Have a read below and if you’re your not sure what to go for just drop me an email at info@shorelineactivities.co.uk
Come along for one day or both. Improve your Surf Kayaking skills and practice of your rescue and safety techniques. Based in Bude, the home of Surf Kayaking.
We’ll use the conditions to build skills and confidence, typically looking at core strength, balance, edge awareness, bottom turns, tops turns and cut backs but also things like rolling in the surf, wave awareness, boat design and performance.
We’ll meet in the morning at The Crooklets Beach Cafe, Bude at 9.30 am for a briefing and tea/coffee.
It's a good idea to bring your own kayak (a short river kayak would be ideal), paddling equipment and clothing. This doesn’t have to be surf specific, most people will initially develop their surf kayaking skills in general river kayaks (some of the old school, longer playboats are ideal in the surf). We also have a number of Wavesport Scooter Sit-on-tops for anyone who would rather learn surfing skills without the hassle of capsizing and swimming.
Cost will be £85 per day.
Two days of techniques and tactics that will help you with your competition surfing run by members of the English Surf Kayak Squad. Open and useful for paddlers of all abilities, surfing any type of craft (river kayaks, surf kayaks and waveskis) and useful preparation for up-coming competitions and championships.
Training will look at various aspects of surf kayaking skills and use contest formats but with a twist, there will be team events, handicap events as well as specific skill development.
We’ll meet on the Saturday morning at The Crooklets Beach Cafe, Bude at 9.30 am for a briefing and tea/coffee.
This Competition and skills workshop weekend will have a booking fee of £20 just so that we can confirm numbers and plan the weekends activities.
Come along for one day or both. Surf handling skills in your sea kayaks that will help you to feel more comfortable and relaxed in the surf environment.

Drive into Bude town centre and follow the one way system as it takes you up a long straight hill with shops on either side. At the top of this hill you'll pass a large grey post office on your left hand side. Take the second left after the post office and follow the road past Sainsburys Supermarket and down the long open hill towards Crooklets Beach. At the bottom of the hill you'll see the Crooklets Inn, either park in the car park on your left or cheaper to cross the small bridge next to the Inn and follow the road around to the left and park in this car park. We’ll meet you at the Crooklets Beach Cafe, overlooking the beach.
